Author Kate Wiswell tells us how important it is to embrace your inner nerd in her new book, Full Frontal Nerdity.
Wiswell is a Nerd-of-all-Trades: Educated at Harvard and an alumnus of the Second City. Kate tells her story through complex mathematics, comedy and her adventures in navigating social situations. Kate’s life story and the way she tells it can encourage all of us to proudly display our inner geekiness.
While the hit TV series The Big Bang Theory helped make Geek Culture chic, there are a lot of Sheldons, Amys and Leonards trying to navigate their way through life, work and their relationships. Kate juxtaposes life with the Drake Equation, Pi and a plethora scientific/mathematic principles with a combination of humor and realism. During our conversation , I found Kate and I happen to have quite a few parallels in our lives, not the least of which was that we were band nerds who played instruments considered “not cool” even by the standards of that circle of schoolyear musicians.
If you’ve ever wondered what astrophysics can teach you about the dating pool or how quantum particles can show you how to ignore the haters, this is the book for you.
